THE MISFITS BOUGHT US A ROUND (THEY JUST DIDN'T KNOW IT YET)

Beer League Bullies 6, Misfits 3 — Thu, Sep 3, 2026 — Rink 2, AFC

Word around the league was that the Misfits went out and beefed up the roster this season. Made some calls. Brought in some ringers. Built a monster.

For us. Specifically for us. That's the rumor and we're choosing to believe it because it's flattering as hell.

Congratulations, boys. You assembled a super team, took a 3-2 lead into the third period, and then watched us hang four unanswered on you in twenty minutes while you fired eight shots and prayed.

Worth every roster spot.

FIRST PERIOD: FIFTEEN MINUTES OF FEELING GREAT

15:52 — PAUL PRZYBYLSKI, off Andreas Adolfsson. 1-0. Easy. This is going fine.

17:15 — Torie Cash off Szapor. 1-1.

17:59 — Michael Szapor, all by himself. 2-1 Misfits.

Eighty-three seconds. That's how long it took the beefed-up Misfits to flip the period on its head. Meanwhile Obradovitch had already taken tripping at 5:36 because he cannot help himself.

Down one after twenty. Twelve shots to eleven. Nobody panicking, but nobody smiling either.

SECOND PERIOD: SIXTEEN SHOTS, ONE GOAL, ONE VERY DUMB PENALTY

We threw sixteen at Ryan Earl in that period. Sixteen. He stopped fifteen of them and started to look like a man who was going to steal a hockey game.

14:35 — ROBERT OBRADOVITCH, off Kellen Hart, finally solves him. 2-2. Bobby atones for the tripping call. Balance restored.

For exactly forty-one seconds.

15:16 — John Fiore takes hooking.

16:56 — Mark Karam buries the power play off Dichristopher. 3-2 Misfits.

Final tally on the night: Misfits 0 penalties, Bullies 2. They didn't take a single infraction all game, which means we spent sixty minutes as the villains in our own building. We also had zero power plays — not one — and still won by three. Chew on that.

Second intermission, down a goal, twenty-eight shots on net with two goals to show for it. The room was about eleven percent existential dread.

THIRD PERIOD: THIRTY SECONDS

0:30. DALLAS ERICKSON. Off Shawn Volchok. Thirty seconds. We didn't even give them time to get comfortable on the bench. 3-3.

1:52. PAUL PRZYBYLSKI, off Erickson and Volchok. 4-3. Lead.

Two goals in eighty-two seconds to open a period. The Misfits' beefed-up bench went dead quiet and never made another sound.

12:15. RYAN SKELLY, off Kellen Hart. 5-3.

18:48. PAUL PRZYBYLSKI COMPLETES THE HAT TRICK, off Volchok again, with seventy-two seconds left, just to make sure the drive home was miserable. 6-3.

Third period shots: 19-8. Third period goals: 4-0. Third period penalties: none, because at that point even the refs were just watching.

THREE STARS

🥇 PAUL PRZYBYLSKI (#26) — HAT TRICK. Three shots on goal. Three goals. A perfect shooting night for the second time this season from somebody in these colors. Paul also won the bet, but we'll get to that.

🥈 SHAWN VOLCHOK (#44) — 3 assists, 0 shots. Didn't take a single shot at the net and still put up a three-point night. Pure setup man. Touched three of our four third-period goals. Also the guy holding the tray at the bar, which is the real MVP work.

🥉 DALLAS ERICKSON (#2) — 1G, 1A, and the goal thirty seconds into the third that changed the entire hockey game.

Also on the sheet: Skelly (G) · Obradovitch (G) · Hart (2A) · Adolfsson (A) Also worth mentioning: Jesse Granger, .900, 27 of 30, kept the door shut for the entire third period while we did the actual scoring.

THE NUMBERS

1st 2nd 3rd T

Misfits 2 1 0 3

BULLIES 1 1 4 6

Shots: Bullies 47, Misfits 30 Power Play: Misfits 1/2 (50%) · Bullies 0 for 0 — we never got one Penalties: Bullies 4:00 on 2 · Misfits 0:00 on 0 Goaltending: Granger .900 — Earl .872 (47 shots faced, poor bastard)

STANDINGS: THREE-WAY LOGJAM AT THE TOP

Team GP W-L PTS GF GA

Reapers 3 3-0 6 16 4

BULLIES 4 3-1 6 23 11

Misfits 4 3-1 6 26 19

Royal Flushers 2 2-0 4 14 6

Mid Ice Crisis 3 2-1 4 12 12

Six points, tied with the beefed-up Misfits — except we've now beaten them, and they've given up 19 goals to our 11. They score a ton and leak like a rented condo. We're the better hockey team and the standings will get around to admitting it.

Reapers sitting there at 3-0 with four goals against. That one's coming.

AND NOW: THE ROUND

Before puck drop, Rob from the Misfits made a bet with Paul. Losing team buys the winners a round. Handshake deal. Man's word. Sacred stuff.

We won by three. Rob did not pay up.

So we handled it ourselves. Six shots went across to the Misfits table, compliments of the Bullies — real classy, real magnanimous, look at us being gracious in victory.

They were completely alcohol free.

They slammed all six. Made faces. Nodded appreciatively. And then — guilted into finally honoring the bet by our tremendous display of sportsmanship — bought us six real ones.

So the final ledger reads:

Misfits: 6 non-alcoholic shots, 1 loss, 1 bar tab

Bullies: 6 real shots, 1 win, $0 spent

We could not stop laughing. We are still not done laughing. Rob, if you're reading this off our wall: pay the bet next time, buddy. It's cheaper.

BULLIES. 🍺🏒
